Shame and Shaming in the 21st Century is the culmination of four years of research on the topic of shame. I became interested in this subject when I began to notice that shame seemed to be an implicit component of more and more of my interactions. Along with shame, it seemed to me that people often with less spontaneity than I recall when I was growing up (in Croton-on-Hudson, NY). It seemed as if people were afraid of something that they weren’t before.
I do a pretty good job of keeping track of everything I read, and one day I realized that the large repository of information I have collected would be of value to others who are researching the subject for academic purposes, have a personal interest, or are just curious. I decided to put as much of my research as possible online, including links to other resources, an annotated bibliography, and some of my own musings.
Shame has been called “the master emotion”. It is a gigantic subject. I have divided the Topics into several subject areas, including Gender, History, Natural History, Psychology, Current Events, Education, Workplace.
